During his time in the White House, Barack Obama repeatedly showed that he had no respect for members of the U.S. military. Since Donald Trump took office, however, he has shown time and time again that he loves the men and women who serve in the military.
Over Veteran’s Day weekend, Trump put Obama to shame by taking the stage flanked by seven veterans of the Vietnam War to honor all U.S. military veterans. While onstage, one of the veterans did something unexpected that is sure to make Obama livid.
“Our veterans are a national treasure, and I thank them all for their service, sacrifice, and patriotism,” Trump said as the veterans stood behind him. “To each of you with me today, you are the heroes who fulfill your duty to our nation. And each of you, under the most difficult conditions, did what you had to do, and you did it well.”
Unlike Obama, who made every event all about himself, Trump turned the microphone over to the seven Vietnam heroes behind them, giving them the opportunity to say whatever was on their minds. The third veteran to speak was only able to get a few words out before he broke down in tears and turned to Trump.
“Mr. President, from my heart, thank you for your support of the military, and it’s an honor to be here as one of seven Vietnam veterans representing the 58,000 heroes that never made it home. Thank you so much,” the veteran said.
This comes after Freedom Daily reported that during Obama’s time in office, hundreds of thousands of veterans would go on to be forgotten, dying while waiting to be treated at VA hospitals across the nation. In the past few months, Trump has made Obama’s corrupt VA officials pay the ultimate price for their negligence. New reports indicate that Trump has just fired 500 VA employees, and an additional 200 have been suspended for shady conduct.
Most of the firings were directed at lower level VA workers, such as housekeepers and food service workers, after learning that initial oversight was not implemented. Many of these employees were found to be felons, sex offenders, or generally incompetent, which has led to poor care and at times death from neglect, for our veterans.
Va Secretary David Shulkin released a statement saying that he is doing everything in his power to hold VA employees accountable and will now make the actions of all employees transparent to taxpayers, as they have the “right to know” what is going on. A list was just posted online over the weekend containing the date and type of disciplinary actions for the 800 employees that President Trump is cracking down on.
“Veterans and taxpayers have a right to know what we’re doing to hold our employees accountable and make our personnel actions transparent,” VA Secretary David Shulkin said in written statement. “Posting this information online for all to see, and updating it weekly, will do just that.”
We’re so glad that we finally have a president who loves and respects our veterans!
